The 2017 British Shogi Championships will be held on Saturday 18th November. There will be four rounds of games and everyone will play in each round.
We're playing at Friday Hall, 56 Friday Hill, Chingford E4 6JT. If you are coming by public transport the easiest way is to take an underground train to Walthamstow Central (at the north end of the Victoria Line) and then change to a London Overground train to Chingford. The venue is about 1 mile from Chingford station, but you can take a number 212 bus (going south) to Simmons Lane. Please see the Shogi London webpage (http://shogilondon.blogspot.co.uk)for more details and a journey planner link which will show you maps and bus route details.
We plan to start at 11.00. If you think you might arrive later than 11.00 please let me know either by email in advance or on 0798 1423742 on the day and I will fix the draw to make an allowance (for example, two late players can play each other in the first round). We will finish before 18.30.
We have plenty of shogi sets but if you have a byo-yomi clock it would be good if you can bring it to use. If you bring a byo-yomi clock you can use it for your own games.
There is no entry fee and therefore no cash prizes, but I hope to have a few non-cash prizes. The games will be graded by FESA (the European Shogi Federation) so you can get a European rating if you don't already have one or improve the European rating/rank that you already have.
If you would like to play, please let me know by writing to this email shogi.london (at) gmail (dot) com
It is important that we know how many people are coming so that we can make sure that we have enough sets and tables to put the sets on.
Best regards,
David Faldon.
